Disaster recovery solutions have evolved from tapes to NAS drives to secure remote data backup over the Internet. But with the advent of virtualization, organizations now have the ability to achieve enterprise-wide recoverability through a Compushare service known as critical systems recovery (CSR). A “snapshot” of your critical systems is taken every 15 minutes and stored. If that system goes down for any reason, the CSR server can run in place of that unavailable system with the system snapshot of no more than 15 minutes prior. Additionally a backup of all critical systems is made nightly to an alternate (secondary) server at another location. So, if for any reason the primary facility is unavailable or destroyed, all systems can be run from the backup. Enterprise-wide recoverability through CSR is what allows organizations to be prepared for any business disruption, large or small.
